Dick was born in Marquette, Michigan on October 31, 1931 to John and Maye Chubb. The family moved to Tacoma when Dick was 14. He attended Lincoln High School where he was a star hockey player. After graduating, Dick worked for Safeway for many years. He met his loving wife Rosetta and were married in 1952.
While working at Safeway, they started a family which grew to 3 children, Tim, Tom and Rosemary. While raising the family, and building a new house in Universty Place (where they lived for over 30 years) Dick decided to go to college. He attended the University of Puget Sound where on June 2, 1963 he graduated with Honors with a degree in Business, with Rosetta and 3 children attending the ceremony.
He worked for the GAO (Government Accounting Office), American Plywood Association, and Northwest Produce.
Dick and Rosetta then decided to try some businesses on their own. They owned and operated DANDE TROPHY COMPANY in Tacoma for 7 years. After that they owned and operated a small family restaurant in Gig Harbor.
They finally decided to leave the business world and enjoyed the rest of their year's together living in Tacoma. Dick enjoyed attending all of his grandchildrens school, sporting and musical events. His great-grandchildren were always able to put a twinkle in his eye.
He was deeply loved by his entire family and anyone fortunate enough to call Dick a friend.
