Richard Homiak's Obituary
Richard E. Homiak, 87 of Tacoma, Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather passed away peacefully on August 21, 2017.
If you ever meant him you know him as, “Ethiopia Jones.” If you ever called him on the phone chances are are you heard, “Joe's pool hall, Joe speaking.” He was a real Character. Born in Yonkers, NY on July 1, 1930, the only child of Eva and William Homiak.
Richard joined the USAF and served his Country honorably for 12 years as Staff SGT. This is where he met and married the love of his life, his beautiful wife Jean Lee. They were married for 56 years before her death in 2008. Together they made 5 gorgeous daughters and one son.
We have such wonderful memories of our Father. Every year at Christmas he would go out to get a Christmas tree. Him and my Brother in Law Dave would bring it home and it was always two feet too tall. They couldn't get it in the house. So Dave would say, “Dick, how much you want cut off?” This happened every year!! But they were always the most beautiful Noble Firs you can imagine. He always did everything in a big way. Richard was all about work. It gave him a purpose in life. He owned his own Tire businesses the majority of his life. He worked until he was 84 years young. We will miss you Dad. But we know you are keeping Mom company again.
He is predeceased by his wife, Jean Lee, his daughter Sandy, his son Richard E., and his Grandson Chris. He is survived by his daughters Cheryl Homiak, Pam Lauer, Patty (Larry) Hermansen, and Vicky (Dale) Blankenship, 9 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
A Special Thanks to all the wonderful Staff at Manor Care of Tacoma who cared for him and showed him dignity and respect until the very end.
