Richard Carithers' Obituary
In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Richard Carithers
July 10th, 1932 - February 28th, 2025
"He loved his family, even though he did not always show it."
Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Richard Carithers, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. Born on July 10th, 1932, in Greenwood, Mississippi, Richard was the embodiment of resilience, loyalty, humility, and hard work.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Tomoko Carithers, and his cherished children: daughters Pat Carithers, Carol Lois Carithers, Linda Joyce Carithers, and sons Richard Carithers Jr and James Edward Carithers.
Richard was the kind of man who found joy in the simple moments of life. Some of our fondest memories are of him getting comfortable on the couch with Tomoko, watching westerns while enjoying a good meal. He had a passion for outdoor activities and cooking, and he loved nothing more than fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.
He was a beloved brother to his sisters Patricia Carithers Fleisher, Mary Ann Carithers Hirras, and Martha Daves Andrews. Though he was preceded in death by his siblings Louise Elizabeth Miller Mulvihill, Shelby Jean Carithers, Peggy Jean Carithers Enmon, Louis Russell Miller, Thomas Henry Carithers, William Floyd Daves, and Charles Kenneth Daves, their memories lived on in his heart.
Richard taught us the value of family, even if he didn't always express it in words. His humble nature and hardworking spirit were an inspiration to us all. We'll always remember the warmth of his presence and the love he had for those around him.
He passed away peacefully on February 28th, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital. While we mourn his loss, we find comfort in the many beautiful memories we shared.
Dad, we love you and we will miss you dearly. Rest in peace.
