Richard B. Rolle's Obituary
-Å"Affectionately known to everyone as -Å"Doc,- Richard Burton Rolle was born to the late David and Mildred Rolle on November 26, 1932 in Miami, Florida and departed this life on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at home with his loving family by his side.
After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in 1952, Doc joined the US Army. His military career took him around the world. He served in Korea, Vietnam, and Germany receiving many distinguished military awards including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star. It was while he was stationed in Germany that he met the love of his life, Gertraud Krenn, and married in 1966. From this union, one son was born, Richard II in 1970.
After a 26 year military career, he retired at Ft. Lewis and made Tacoma, Washington his home. After retirement, he was employed with the Tacoma School District and retired again in 1998.
1982, he graduated with a BA degree from Evergreen State College. Doc was an avid sports fan. He loved all sports. You could always find him in front of the TV watching the games and giving sports lessons to anyone who would listen.
Throughout his life, he brought joy to family, friends and strangers through his gift of giving. He never missed an opportunity to do something good for people. His kindness and caring are matched by few and sets an example for all. His light shines bright through all who knew him. He leaves behind the memories of a truly exceptional man, a devoted husband, father, friend and servant to the Lord.
Mourning his departure, yet thanking God for many years of beautiful memories are his wife of 44 years, Gertraud, son, Richard II and family of Federal Way, WA, brother, David Rolle of Miami, Florida, nephew, Mack Graves of Tacoma, WA, and a host of other relatives and friends.
