Ricardo Quichocho Uncangco Sr's Obituary
Ricardo Quichocho Uncangco Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Tacoma, WA on December 21st, 2017 at the age of 79.
Ricardo was the pillar of his family and the strongest root of the family tree, which continues to grow and prosper today because of the sacrifices he made for them. He was proud of his Guamanian Heritage and a proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Nothing made him happier than to see his family together and happy. He loved the outdoors and all activities that came with it. He loved camping, fishing, squidding, smelting, catching octopus and digging for razor clams. He rooted for the Mariners and watched every game win or lose!
Ricardo is survived by his wife, Gloria; sons, Ricardo Jr. (Rick) and wife Annette, Mark and wife Brenda; siblings, John, Joquin (Kin), Natividad (Dot); grandchildren, Amanda, Sierra, Breanna, Elena, Steven, and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Levi, Cali and Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ricardo was born on March 28th, 1938 in Agana, Guam to Eduardo Uncangco & Maria Quichocho. He graduated from George Washington High School in Agana, Guam in 1958. He married Gloria, on January 29, 1968 in Honolulu, HI.
Ricardo joined the United States Army in 1963. He completed several military school courses throughout his career. Some of the more notable ones included -
1964 – Nuclear, Biological and Chemical School – Schofield Barracks, Hawaii
1970 – Field Artillery Cannon Gunnery Section Chief School Vilsex, Germany
1972 – Demolition School Ft. Lewis, WA
1975 – Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer’s Course Ft. Sill, OK
1984 – Battalion Training Management System Staff Course Ft. Lewis, WA
Ricardo retired in 1984 as 1st Sergeant of Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion 4th Field Artillery from Ft. Lewis, WA.
A viewing and celebration of life with food and drink (as customary in Guamanian culture) will be held on Saturday, December 30th, 2017 from 10:00am – 2:00pm with funeral services starting at 2:00pm. Both will take place in the Aspen Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home located at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.
In keeping with celebrating Ricardo's Life family has requested guest wear bright, colorful casual or Island attire.

Ricardo will be buried with Full Military Honors at Tahoma National Cemetary on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 at 12:30pm located at 18600 Southeast 240th St. Kent, WA 98042-4868.
