Reynaldo Colmenar Portugal's Obituary
Reynaldo C. Portugal was born on October 28, 1945 in General Trias, Cavite, Philippines and passed away on March 20, 2021 in his home in Puyallup, Washington. He is survived by his wife, Margie Miranda Portugal; son, Alan Portugal, wife Linda; daughter Natasha and husband Fred de Leon; and four grandchildren, along with his siblings, Josephine McLaren, Teresita Roldan, Diosdado Portugal, Cristina Anderson, Emmanuel Portugal and numerous nieces and nephews.
He grew up in Quezon City, Philippines and graduated from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, with a Bachelor of Science degree, major in Marketing. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Beta Fraternity, the brother fraternity of Phi Delta Alpha sorority (Margie’s sorority in UP). After graduating from college, he immigrated to the US and later was drafted to the US Army (during the Vietnam War). During his 8 years of service, he was a medical technologist during his entire stint in the military. He was stationed in William Beaumont Hospital, El Paso Texas and Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. He was later transferred to Madigan Medical Center, in Tacoma, Washington. After serving in the military, he started a new career in real estate with Better Homes and Garden and later joined Crescent Realty. He was a very successful real estate agent together with his wife, Margie; later joined Keller Williams Realty in Puyallup, Washington. He enjoyed getting the best buys for his clients and helped them make their dream of owning a home a reality.
Outside of work, he enjoyed serving in his community. He was a three-time president of the United Filipino American community of Pierce County, served as a commissioner of the Pierce County Housing Authority and Asia Pacific Alliance.
He loved playing poker, pool, bowling, ballroom dancing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on March 31st, 2021 at Holy Disciples Catholic Church in Puyallup, WA. Interment will be held after mass at Mountain View Funeral and Memorial Park in Lakewood, WA.
