Ressie M. StricklandMrs. Ressie M. Strickland, a Tacoma resident for over sixty years, entered into eternal rest Sun. Nov. 19, 2002. A celebration of her life will be held at the Mountain View Valley Chapel, Sat. Nov. 23, 2002, at 10 a.m. Internment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.Mrs. Strickland was born in Wetumpka, Alabama to Henry and Mamie McCarley.Mrs. Strickland and her husband, the late Grady Amos Strickland, moved to Tacoma from Birmingham, Alabama. She was employed by The Bon Marche and by AndrewÂ's Women Apparel. She was an active member of Allen A.M.E. Church until she was unable to attend. She was also a member of the McCabe Twenty Social Club; Saturday Morning Brunch Club; WomenÂ's Temperance Union; and the Colored WomenÂ's Association. She leaves to mourn daughters: Mamie E. Taylor, and Wendy K. Bethea (Minister Calvin); granddaughters: Josette, Ressie, Lacritia, Carlotta, Joi, and Marvelle; grandsons: Joseph (Dana), Lavance, Grady, Roscoe, Brodrick (Mona), Andre, Mark, and Anthony; 35 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; special friends: Louise and Alphonso, and Sidney and Charlotte. She was preceded in death by 4 daughters, 2 grandsons, and 3 granddaughters.
