Renee Lyons' Obituary
Renee Lyons, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away January 25th, 2023. She was eight-two. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle and spent a year at Whitworth College in Spokane. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, James Lyons, whom she met while they both worked at Boeing. She is also survived by her sisters: Vikki Gramann and Gayle Norgaard, and her children: David, Karen (Schwisow), and Michael, and six grandchildren. Her first great grandchild is due in March, and the family imagines that they have already met.
Renee cared for family and friends through conversation, compassion, and laughter. She leaves a host of people who cherish her gifts of love and attention, her willingness to have the tough conversations, her strong opinions, her profound intuition, and her mind-blowing strength in the face of cancer. If you knew her, you liked her, because she was interested in you, and she cared. Renee embraced those in her women’s groups over the years, such as cousins’ weekends and events with the Turtles to the Crazies, bridge groups to garden clubs. Renee’s passion for decorating is reflected in her home, which exudes warmth and welcome and is dotted with personal creations of craftwork and calligraphy. Most of all, she filled her home with a palpable love available to any who entered.
A Celebration of Renee’s Life will be held soon at Mountain View funeral home in Lakewood, WA
