Renate Ruth Wenz
Renate Ruth Wenz, age 80, of Steilacoom, passed away after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis and cancer on Thursday, June 18th, 2015.
Born in 1934 in Königsburg, Germany, Renate immigrated to the United States in her early 20s with her husband and daughter. They settled in Washington State and held residence in Lakewood and then Steilacoom.
Renate loved to socialize, travel, and cook traditional German dishes and desserts. She made friends easily and loved to take the camping trailer out for adventures. Renate especially enjoyed the beach. Renate cared deeply for those in her life, and her legacy of love will live on.
She is survived by her husband, Manfred Wenz, brother Wolfgang Roempke, son-in-law Jon Kuzma, and two grandchildren, Ian Kuzma and Hilarie Kuzma. Renate was preceded in death by her daughter Cornelia Wenz-Kuzma.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 7th, at the Oberlin Congregational Church, 1603 Rainier St, Steilacoom, Washington. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and potluck reception immediately following.
