Renate H. Carmony's Obituary
Renate Hilde Carmony, born on February 9, 1938 in Triptis, Germany, left us on December 23, 2016. She leaves behind her husband Jon, son Thomas (Dianne), grandson Delton, sisters Helga and Erica, and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers. Her family will always be thankful for her numerous acts of courage and the examples she set in helping those who could not help themselves.
In order to pursue a better life for herself, Renate escaped East Germany at the age of 20, defecting to West Germany. She met (1961) and married (1963) Jon Carmony, a U.S. Army soldier stationed in Fürth. Renate immigrated to the United States in 1966, and she and Jon settled in Lakewood, where she raised a family and was beloved in the community, until her passing.
Renate was a loving, compassionate person who cared deeply for her family and friends. She was actively involved in numerous volunteer programs, and enjoyed painting, classical music, and playing piano. She had a deep love of animals and supported a range of animal rescue charities for many years.
She will be laid to rest at Mountain View Memorial Park, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions in her honor to Best Friends Animal Society, bestfriends.org.
