Renae K. Rowley's Obituary
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (1 Timothy 4:7). Renae Kay Rowley finished her race after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, March 1. She was 78 years old.
Renae was a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, and a lover of God and neighbor. She was born in Tacoma on February 24, 1947, to George and Madalynne Brown. She gave birth to seven children, six of whom survive her—Joshua Rowley, Shannon Jones, Megan Rowley, Christopher Rowley, Jeremy Rowley, and Paige Hanly. Her large and beloved family also includes thirteen grandchildren, two siblings, three siblings-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Renae’s calling in life was to care for the vulnerable, especially children—whether her own children, her grandchildren, or the children of others. She found purpose and joy in this work. Sometimes her heart was so big that she neglected her own self-care as she shared her resources with others.
Renae will be missed. Yet we are thankful that for her death is past and pain ended. We celebrate her life and new life—she has been received into the joy of God’s presence.
