Rena Mae Phillips' Obituary
Â"Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shallRejoice in time to come.Â" Proverbs 31:25Rena Mae (Woodard) Phillips, the daughter of the late Mr. Dan Woodard and Mrs. Canary (Moore) Woodard, was born on April 15, 1930 in Driver Arkansas.In 1939, the family relocated to Lakeview, Arkansas. It was here that she attained her knowledge and attended Lakeview High School. In 1948 she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Elder Johnny Phillips Sr. In 1950 she had converted and was filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of the late Supt. Phillip Watkins, Lakeview C.O.G.I.C.In 1975 Rena moved to San Diego, California. Once there she joined St. Stephens C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of Bishop George McKinney. It was under this leadership that she was called to be a Missionary then an Evangelist Missionary. After serving Bishop McKinney, at St Stephens, for 15 years, she then moved to Tacoma, Washington. In November 1990 she joined Lively Hope C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of Pastor Robert E. Jones Sr. Here she was a blessing to the WomenÂ's Department, Sunday school, Young WomenÂ's Christian Council and Missionary Board until the Lord called her home.Rena leaves behind to remember her, two (2) sisters Lela Pearl Wimble and Icie Abrams. Her children James Wesley Woodard (JW), Charles Phillips, Stanley Phillips, Lester Phillips (Judy), Michael Phillips (Anita), Dariel Phillips (Crystal), Johnny Phillips Jr. (deceased), Chantay Thomas, Cedric Phillips (Rhonda), Elry Phillips and Angela Phillips. She also leaves behind 29 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. She will be truly missed. Viewing will be held from 11 AM Â- 9 PM, Monday, March 7, 2005 at Mountain View Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Tuesday, March 8, 2005 in the Mountain View Valley Chapel.
