Remo was born in Philadelphia PA on September 18, 1954 and attended St. Rita’s grammar school followed by Bishop Neumann High School. Following graduation, Remo entered the Catholic Seminary for a brief time, then enlisted in the US Navy and served his country proudly for six years on the USS Little Rock (GLG-4) and the USS Hector (AR-7). During his time in the Navy, Remo served as a Eucharistic Minister for the Sixth Fleet and sang in a Blue Jacket Navy Choir.
For many years, following his discharge from the Navy, Remo worked as an addictions counselor at Warren Hospital located in Phillipsburg NJ while living in Allentown, PA. Remo eventually followed his heart and moved to the Pacific Northwest settling in Tacoma WA. Here he would continue to use his expertise and skills to the benefit of others in recovery.
Of his most fond and cherished enjoyments in life, Remo embraced his passions for his family, gardening, and his love for the theatre. He truly loved singing, musicals and regaling others with his comedic wit.
Remo would be described by all who came to know and love him as intelligent, caring, funny, generous and most importantly compassionate. The lyrics of the song “Lean on Me” best describe what is truly at the heart and soul of Remo, and the gift he has brought to us all.
