Raymond Lottier's Obituary
Raymond Lottier
Major Raymond Leon Lottier (retired) passed away gently from this world to the next on Tuesday March 19th. “Ray” as he was affectionately known to his friends was born in Pulaski, Virginia on May 15th, 1926 to Fredrick Arthur Lottier Sr and Captolia S. (Newman) Lottier.
Raymond graduated from high school in Pulaski. Then graduating from college the first time at Virginia State University shortly before enlisting in the army. He so impressed a white officer being his personal driver that he was recommended to Officer Candidate School (OCS). Upon which completing he married his long time sweetheart Alice Colleen Magbie. They grew up together along with her sister Elaine Vernell Magbie. He was then sent to Germany to fight in WWII serving heroically but never to brag, rarely even to talk about his actions with the 98th field artillery unit, 82nd Airborne Division nor the 761st tank battalion (Black Panthers) and 119th field artillery unit among others even to his family. But he was very proud to serve with his brothers in arms, helping to liberate a German concentration camp. He also served with distinction in the Korean “war” earning a “Battlefield” commission to Major. He was also a very proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity serving many years with them during and after his enlistment. After retiring from the army Raymond went back to school first to earn a Bachelors degree in Accounting and then a Master’s in Tax accounting upon which he formed his very own successful Tax firm “Ray-Lott” Accounting.
He is survived by three sons Ashley David, Michael Anthony and Roger Douglas. Also twin daughters Cheryl Lynn and Ramona Louise. Neices Necci, Captolia, Jennifer, a nephew Joeseph, and Fredrick Jr. Two grandchildren Tanna Ion and David Alexander Lottier and a great great grandson Omar Valatimo.
To say the least he had a very distinguished and full life and will be sadly missed
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Mountain View Valley Chapel.
