Raymond Bagley Jr's Obituary
Raymond Bagley Jr.
September 1, 1950 – May 6, 2025
Raymond Bagley Jr., born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, in Seattle, Washington. He was 74 years old.
Raymond was a devoted father, a proud veteran, and a man of quiet strength and deep faith. He is survived by his beloved son, Raymond Bagley III of Seattle, WA; his brothers, Craig and Darryl Bagley; and a host of extended family, friends, and former colleagues who will carry his memory with love and admiration.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Raymond went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force as an HVAC mechanic on C-130 aircraft. His service took him to Langley Air Force Base in Virginia and Howard Air Force Base in Panama. After his military service, he pursued higher education and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Washington.
Raymond dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to the U.S. Postal Service, working in maintenance and HVAC. He was proud of the work he did, and he spoke often about the people he met and the camaraderie he found there. His passion for the job, his strong work ethic, and his willingness to advocate for others led him to serve as a union steward—always looking out for his coworkers, always offering wisdom, always showing up.
Those years in the Air Force and at the Post Office made Raymond a true jack-of-all-trades. If something was broken, he could fix it. If you had a question, he’d have an answer—usually with a story to go along with it.
Raymond was known for his enormous heart and his unmatched generosity. If you visited his home, he’d try to send you away with something in your hand—tools, clothes, gadgets, food—anything he thought you could use. It became a running joke in the family: if Ramieo (as his brothers called him) liked you, you were leaving with a gift.
One of his most well-known quirks was his tradition of giving away silver dollars. At an oil change, he’d offer one before they even popped the hood. At restaurants, he’d hand one to the waitress before she took the order. At the airport, he'd thank a worker with one before they even spoke. It wasn’t just about the coin—it was his way of spreading kindness, of letting people know they mattered.
Most importantly, Raymond gave his life to Jesus Christ before his passing—a quiet, powerful testament to his enduring faith and peace as he neared the end of his journey.
He will be laid to rest near his parents in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania—a city that shaped him, and a place that holds part of his heart forever.
Raymond Bagley Jr. will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. His laughter, wisdom, generosity, and love will echo in the lives of everyone lucky enough to have known him.
A message from his son:
I’ll be lost forever without him, but I’m trying to live by everything he ever taught or showed me. My dad gave me the blueprint. Now I just have to figure out how to carry it forward.
