Ray E. Brown's Obituary
Ray Eldridge Brown
Our father left to join his beloved brother Reg and childhood sweetheart/wife Margaret last Monday, December 29, 2008. Ray was born July 21, 1924, and was raised in Tacoma by his parents, Ximena Irene and Claude U. Brown. He attended Lincoln High School with his best friend and brother, Reginald C. Strout. He was drafted into the Army during World War II, and served his military days in the South Pacific. He and our mother, Margaret Alice Warren, were married on April 10, 1943. After working many years with the Post Office in Tacoma, he became a quality control inspector for the Boeing Company, a job he loved and stayed with until his retirement after 40 years of service. He enjoyed spending his retirement days playing poker, even joining his Palace Casino card table buddies December 28. Ray leaves behind three daughters and a son: Gracie Louise (Bill) Baker, Evelyn Alice (Larry) Phillips, Linda I. (Dave Christiansen) Brown, and David Ray (Sue) Brown. He's also survived by 12 wonderful grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and a gazillion nieces and nephews! Family and friends are invited to a celebration of our dad's life on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Gibson Gardens, Orchid Room, 5001 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma. Please join us to share memories and stories of our beloved father. For directions or further info, call Gracie at (253) 851-5154.
