Randie G. Martin's Obituary
Randie Gertrude Martin, 90, passed away peacefully June 30, 2005 at her home at Panorama City in Lacey, WA. Randie was born April 14, 1915 in a farm house near Lake Park, MN to Albert and Christina (Larson) Olson. She outlived her three younger siblings, L. Clifford Olson of Missoula, MT; Sidney D. Olson of Lakewood, WA and Claris (Olson) Carlson also of Missoula, MT. After high school she moved to Enderlin, ND to work as a cook, where she met John Martin, her future husband. While John was stationed with the 8th Air Force in England during WW II, Randie moved to the Lakewood, WA area where she worked at the Ordinance Depot. On July 14, 1945, Randie and John were married at Ft. Lewis in Tacoma, WA. They then moved back to Enderlin, ND where they owned and operated Super Valu grocery stores for 20 years. In 1965 they moved to their dream house in Steilacoom, WA overlooking Puget Sound. Randie lived in the greater Lakewood, WA area for over 35 years before moving to Panorama City in 2001.Randie was a wonderful homemaker and seamstress. She was a consummate hostess much appreciated by her family and many friends. She had a terrific sense of humor as well as an excellent business mind. She enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world with John until his death in 1984, and subsequently with family and friends, especially her great friend Alton (Pip) Pippin. Her particular joy was spending time with her family and friends. She was involved in many social and philanthropic groups and was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lakewood, WA for many years.Randie is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Sidney (Ann) and Richard (Trudy) Olson of Olympia, WA; Christy Carlson Wujcik (Jerry) of Sedro Wooley, WA; Ida Martin Sorensen (Peter) of Cedar Rapids, IA; Mary Martin Bryngelson (Bob) of Minneapolis, MN; Mike Martin (Susan) of Enderlin, ND and Kathy Martin Babb (Doug) of Fort Smith, AR, as well as a number of cousins.After a graveside service for family, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on July 23, 2005 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2109 College St. SW, Lacey, WA.Memorials may be made in RandieÂ's name to Christ Lutheran Church earmarked for the QuiltersÂ' Group, 8211 112th St. SW, Lakewood, WA 98498.
