Ralph Clyde Eckart
SGM Ralph Clyde Eckart, US Army (Ret), was born on April 8, 1931 in Wailuku, Maui, HI and passed away peacefully on January 16, 2015 at Madigan Army Medical Center after an extended illness. Following a 30 year career in the US Army, during which he served tours in Korea and Vietnam and had multiple duty stations in Germany, he and his wife Walli settled in Lakewood, WA in 1983. Ralph is survived by his wife of 51 years, Walburga, daughter Sharon Eckart of New York, NY and daughter and son-in-law Adrienne Eckart and Frederick Bittner of Bloomsburg, PA. Known for his lightning quick wit, Ralph’s joke telling and talk story skills were unmatched. He was to his core a man of his word, and will be remembered as a generous and loyal friend. Ralph had a special love for animals, with a particular fondness for his beloved cats. At his request there will be no service. Remembrances in his memory may be made to the Lumpy Fund, c/o The Pet Doctor in Lakewood, WA or the Humane Society of Tacoma, WA.
