To My Mother:
Mother, You will always be my queen! You possessed the grace and dignity of any royalty that I have ever heard about. You might not have had their gold and riches but what you had you can say that you earned from hard work, not any ones' hand out. My love for you is indescribable. I know that you loved this big family of ours just as much, if not more. I know that you accepted us, each and all with all our faults unconditionally. I will always cherish our last Saturday together and am so glad that God graciously let you remember me and allowed me the time to hold your hand and take care of you if only for a few hours. I am glad that I found the picture of you with your "big" fish so I could share it with the grandsons. They were able to see why you considered their "big" fish "little" fish!
One memory of many is how I learned to cook fried chicken. You were sitting on the banks of Fawn lake fishing and didn't want to stop. You told me to go cook dinner. I told you I didn't know how to cook (you see, I was the little princess, we all know that princesses do not work, much less cook). Well, dad wasn't there to save me (he was sleeping) and mom just said, go cook the chicken that she had laid out. I went reluctantly. I cooked the chicken the way she told me to do it. It looked so good, all crispy on the outside, smelled so good, just the way that mom's did, but when we bit into it, it was so not cooked! So much for being like mom's fried chicken. It took me years to conquer this feat.
Mother, I want you to know that you are the most beautiful woman inside and out. You were the strongest woman that I have ever known. You never complained throughout your illness. In fact, you were always worried about your children. You were always telling me not to cry for you that you were okay and not to get upset because of my high blood pressure. You told my Zachary, "Don't cry honey. I am okay."
Mother, I will miss you so much and I will always hold you close to my heart, just as you always held me close to yours.
Thank you God for sending the angels to carry mom home last Monday. To dad and all the other relatives who now have mama....take care of her and give her all the love and respect that she deserves!
I love you.##imported-begin##evelyn faye montgomery-heyd##imported-end##
