Quinton Ponder's Obituary
Quinton Lavar Ponder passed away at Tacoma General hospital on Saturday, December 31, 2022. He was surrounded by his mother, eldest sister, step fathers (Melvin Johnson and Wayne Clemons) and five of his children (Princene, Princess, Ghorgeous, Alexuani, and Quinton Jr.). Quinton was 45 years old.
Quinton was born on July 21, 1977 in Vero Beach, FL at Indian River Community hospital. He was the second of 3 children of Willie and Shirley Ponder. Quinton loved hunting, fishing, swimming and most of all his favorite growing up was squirrel hunting with his uncle Bruce. Yes, I said squirrel hunting! He loved the outdoors and nature in WA state. Growing up, Quinton would later discover a love and passion for music and was known all around the community for his dynamic and edgy style of rap. He was a genius with words and lyrics, and was never scared to express his thoughts through his music. In other words, he was a BEAST on the mic!
If you really knew Quinton, then you also knew that he was also quite the story teller; mesmerizing to a point. Some of the stories he told were quite captivating, at times almost hard to believe, but he always knew how to get your attention and make you laugh. That was just Quinton. His mother describes him as a old soul. She said she will especially miss the times they would sit at the house and listen to old school jams together. He had a genuine passion for caring for people, almost to a fault sometimes. Quinton was never afraid of anything or anybody. He never hesitated to step in to help anyone no matter who they were or what they looked like and he never judged a book by its cover. In his opinion, anyone could get “them hands” and for those who knew him as “Big Sneak” you knew he had ‘them hands’!
Quinton’s character and caring spirit surpassed him in age. He was a wonderful and caring son, nephew, brother, father, uncle and more importantly his family’s protector. He doted on his family and was the happiest when he was surrounded by them. He was and will forever be our King. He is survived by: his father - Willie Ponder, his mother - Shirley (Ponder) Niblack, his sisters- Genine Ponder-Granger and Tiffony Ponder, his uncle - Bruce Gilchrist, six children - Blessing, Princene, Princess, Ghorgeous, Alexuani, and Quinton Jr. Ponder, 2 grandsons - Ramir and Randy Jr. Smith, 5 nieces - Raeashanique and Misse’ Peterson, Jaylah and Maliah White, and Skylar Green, Step Father - Melvin Johnson, Step brothers - Nathan Bradford and Marquis Bradford Johnson and a host of family and friends.
Quinton will forever be missed and is loved by many family and friends. Until we meet again, may he now Rest In Peace.
