Preston James Hemingway-Lux's Obituary
Preston James Hemingway-Lux, a proud resident of the Eastside of Tacoma, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 12.
Born on November 20, 2012, in Tacoma to Castonya Taylor and Titus Hemingway-Lux, Preston was a loved son, brother, cousin, and friend. He attended Lister Elementary and was most recently a student at First Creek Middle School.
Preston lived a life filled with love, joy, and laughter. He was famously a goofy child who enjoyed making jokes and funny faces—even if his audience didn't always find them funny, his effort to bring a smile was constant and appreciated.
Known for his big heart, he was patient and kind, always quick to offer help to anyone in need. His presence was a source of great happiness for his loved ones, and he cherished time spent with them. He was a devoted and loving Uncle to his niece, Sienna.
A true Eastsider, Preston was an active kid who loved being part of the community at the Eastside Community Center, where he enjoyed playing basketball and swimming. His short time on Earth was full, memorable, and defined by his loving nature.
Preston is survived by his mother, Castonya Taylor; his father, Titus Hemingway-Lux; his brothers, Xavier, Josiaha, King and Sir; and his sisters, Tahtiana, Aviana, Lae Lae, Patience, Ke'andrea and Tynasha. He also leaves behind his niece, Sienna and a host of other family and friends.
Although Preston’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
