Phyllis Edna Stiles
Born August 26, 1916 in Northhamptonshire, England and died December 10, 2013 at the age of 97. After WWII, she met Staff Sergeant John Stiles, USAF who was stationed in England, She came to the United States in 1954. The day after she arrived she married John and they remained married until his death in 1987. They lived in and around Tacoma where she was the first woman Acolyte in the Episcopal Church. She served on altar guild and was a member of The Daughters of the King.
Phyllis was preceded in death by parents Albert and Naomi; brothers Dennis and Ernie; sisters Connie, Winifred, Margarete.
She is survived by daughter Patricia Capps (Leon Gray) of England and son Joseph Stiles (Janette) of Tacoma, stepson John P.G. Stiles of Las Vegas, stepdaughter Cathy Scarms (Rick) of Palm Desert, CA and grandchildren Tracey Stapleton (Neil) of England, and Sheldon Capps of Thailand, plus 3 great grandchildren; Freya, Tayler and Nathan; and 2 great-great granddaughters all of England, plus various nieces and nephews.
Phyllis will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Special thanks to Central Pierce Fire and Rescue, St. Clare Hospital, Franciscan Hospice Services and Elite care AFH.
Services will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 205 East 96th Street, Tacoma 98445 at 1:00PM, Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, or The Humane Society.
