Philip Louis McField's Obituary
Philip Louis McField, lovingly known as "Mac", passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2015 with his wife and children at his side. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Philip was born in New Orleans, LA on July 19, 1930, the second child of Willie and Rose McField. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Denise and siblings, Stanley McField, Octavia Johnson, William McField, Wallace McField and Carl McField.
Philip was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church and was dedicated to God. He attended Trinity Lutheran Elementary and Booker T. Washington High School. He entered the Military Service where he served abroad in Germany, Korea and Vietnam War. He completed his military career stationed at Fort Lewis Army Post, Washington. He also worked for St Regis and retired from West Coast Door.
Throughout his life, Philip enjoyed dancing, having poker parties with his buddies, watching football games, viewing old westerns and MMA fight events. He enjoyed good meals prepared by his wife, specially gumbo but was known for sneaking his favorite snacks consisting of hot-links, ice cream and flavored soda. He looked forward to the annual family picnic to spend time with family. He and his brothers enlisted in the military to help provide for their younger siblings after the death of their parents. He continued to exhibit those family values by becoming an exceptional provider for his own wife, children and others in need, as he always put others first. His work ethics were impeccable as he never missed a day of work. He loved to tell jokes and would create funny nicknames for family members and friends.
Philip is survived by his wife, Catherine of forty nine years; eight children Michael (Jacqueline), Jerome, Douglas, Debra, Joseph, Angela, Cleveland and Kevin; twenty-three grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Maude (RB) Acoff, Earnest McField, and Marian Sherrill including a host of nieces, nephews and extended family & friends.
