Philip M. Haislip's Obituary
Philip Michael Haislip, November 30, 1937, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2021. He was the first born of three to Everett & Evelyn Haislip. He is survived by his sister Karen Smasal, daughters Colleen (Ken) and Anne (Steve), son Tony, and grandchildren Justin, Allan, Cameron, Allyson, Rachel, Olivia and Austin.
Phil was born in Tacoma and lived in several neighborhoods throughout his life. He attended Park Avenue Grade School, Stewart Jr High, Lincoln High, Stadium High and graduated from Franklin Pierce. After graduating Phil, joined the Marine Corp where he served 3 years.
Phil then started his electrical career with an apprenticeship with IBEW Local 76 working for Myer’s Electric, H&W Wiring, McWik Electric, and then with his dad at the Electric Construction Company of Tacoma. He became owner of the Electric Construction Company of Tacoma where he built lifelong relationships with coworkers and customers.
Phil was a man of faith, attending Mt Zion Lutheran, St. John of the Woods, and Life Center in Tacoma. He was active in the Christian Businessman and Singles Groups and enjoyed distributing Gideon Bibles.
Phil was an avid hunter and fisherman. He often hunted at Gold Hills and North River with his cousins Ray and Chet and son Tony. He had fond memories of camping on top of the mountains and building elaborate elk tents. He loved fishing at Sekiu with his friend Dave and trout fishing at the Riffe Lake Dam.
A Celebration of Phil’s life will be July 10, 2021 at 10:30am at Mt. View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. S.W., Tacoma, WA. There will be a graveside service followed with a coffee
and cookie social. His remains will be interred at the feet of his father Everett and mother Evelyn.
