Peter Martin Coor's Obituary
Peter Martin Coor, 50, of Tacoma, died on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Tacoma General Hospital. Pete was born in El Paso, Texas on September 9, 1958. He grew up as an Army brat, finally settling in the Tacoma area. He was a 1976 graduate of Clover Park High School and he attended UW. Pete was the owner/operator of Coor's Fire Protection. He was an avid outdoorsman who learned the finer points of fishing and hunting from his grandfather. He enjoyed mountain biking, whitewater rafting, camping, cooking, art and music. Pete's culinary skills and "grill mastery" were known and loved by many. Pete is survived by his mother, Glenda F. Coor, of Oakdale, Louisiana, 3 brothers, Tim Coor (Becky) of Oakdale, Louisiana, Steve Coor of Spokane, Patrick Coor of Kirkland, and a sister, Karen Coor, of Lecompte, Louisiana. He also leaves behind many friends who will miss his generosity and his sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his father Vinton K. Coor, and his beloved grandparents Martin and Mae Fontenot. A life celebration will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 11 AM at the Lakeside Country Club. A reception for friends and family will follow. Memorials may be made to the Our Lady of Sorrows Community Homes Cookie Jar, 347 Brown's Bend Road, Alexandria, Louisiana 71303. The Cookie Jar provides work opportunities for adults who have developmental disabilities.
