Pesamino Pele's Obituary
Pesamino Pele Born April 15, 1929, in Lauli'i, American Samoa. Son of Mulitauaopele Le'aana Pataua and Ulua'itupu Tufele, who have preceded him in death. He was a long-time resident of Steilacoom. Pesamino is survived by his children, Catherine Liufau, Pesamino Pele, Jr., Christina Pele-Olo, Daniel Pele, and Frances Pele-Alefaio; five grandchildren, Kevin and Cody Showalter, Tysen and Nehemiah Olo, and Josephine Pele; daughter-in-law Crystal Pele; sons-in-law Joey Olo and Puni Alefaio; and many nieces and nephews who will continue to love and miss him dearly. "Mino" was a retired Army veteran who proudly served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Included among his many awards and honors earned during his 21 years of service are 2 Purple Hearts awarded after he was wounded in combat and 2 Bronze Star Medals awarded for Heroism and Meritorious Service. Following his retirement from the Army in 1972, Mino worked as a Boeing machinist for another 20 years before retiring in 1993. Mino was very active within the Samoan Community and will be deeply missed by many family, extended family, and friends whose lives were enriched by his love and kindness. Family service and Rosary, 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2011, in the Celebration of Life Center at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood. Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011, with final viewing at 10:00 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m., at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 10508 112th St. S.W., Lakewood.
