Percy Leroy Sturgis,'s Obituary
Percy Leroy Sturgis Sr. Percy Leroy Sturgis, Sr., 61 passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008 in Lakewood, WA. He was born in Augusta, Georgia on April 27, 1946. Percy enlisted in the US Army on January 19, 1971 and spent most of those years in Infantry. Some of his duty stations included, Ft.Jackson, SC, Ft. Poke, LA., Kerch Gones, Germany. Ft.Campbell, Ky. Baum Holder, Germany. Ft.Eustis, VA. and finally retiring at Ft.Lewis WA in February 1992. After retiring from the military Percy attended Clover Park Technical College for Crime Prevention Management and Rehabilitation Courses. For 11 years Percy spent his remaining working years as a Personal Support Counselor working with the developmental disable. Off and on he also worked as a security officer. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Zena Sturgis, 5 children, Robin Blackmon, Percy Leroy Jr., Anthony Bernard, Cynthia Renay (Hernton), Casandra Meshell (Wille) Howard. 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and a host of nephews and nieces. Viewing of the body is from 1pm-9pm on Sunday. Funeral services will be held at the National Cemetery at Monday 12:45pm. In leiu of flowers send contributions to Cassandra Howard 9002 Carol Ave S.
