Percy J. Knox
Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather
Percy passed away peacefully June 11, 2016 in Eatonville, Washington. Percy was born in Powell River B.C., February 16th, 1917 to William and Ivy Knox. His family moved to Birch Bay area were as a young boy he worked on a farm. As young man he moved to Shelton were he became a logger. There he met the love of his life Violet Eager. They were married in Olympia on November 29th, 1941. Shortly after Percy went to Alaska to help build an air field. After one year he came home and enlisted in the US Navy where he served aboard the USS Boyle D D 600. He made over nineteen crossing to Europe and Africa including transport of General Patton. After Europe he was sent to help in the war in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. On his return from the war he and Violet moved to Tacoma where they started a family. He took a temporary job at Tacoma General Hospital (MMC) that lasted forty years. He was Director of Building Maintenance and Construction. He helped start a credit union for medical employees. After retirement he and Violet traveled and enjoyed their camping trailer. He was very active in All Saints Episcopal Church.
Percy is survived by daughter Colleen Holste (Bud); son Bob Knox (Kim); grandchildren Sean Antonson (Cari), Karley Quam (Stewart); Kraig Knox; Kiersten Knox (Cody); stepchildren Faith Roland (Rich), Jeff Holste (DeAnn), Hope Smith (Gary); four great-grandchildren Ryan, Dylan and Finnigan Antonson and Carson Dolan; ten step great grandchildren and eighteen step great-great grandchildren. Alson brother-in-law John Eager (Betty), many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews. His wife, father, mother and one brother preceded him in death.
