Peggy Ione Riden's Obituary
Peggy Ione Riden, 90, precious Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend, and most importantly Child of God, was born July 12, 1923, in Tacoma, WA. She lived here most of her life and graduated to Heaven on April 9, 2014. She was a beautiful woman who shone with the Love of Jesus Christ, her Saviour. She loved and was loved by everyone.
Peggy married her loving husband of 74 years, Roy, on February 24, 1940. They were very devoted to each other and blessed everyone so with the fine example of their love. Throughout their years together, they fixed up and sold many houses. They were a great team.
Peggy had worked in Food Service for many years, having worked at The Cove Restaurant and she retired after 15 years at Tacoma Community College, where she was known for her wonderful potato salad. She catered several events as well. She was a hard worker who put her whole heart into all she did. In years past, she had worked at The Salvation Army, a credit bureau, and she, at one time, had a childcare nursery in her home.
Peggy was an excellent cook, baker, gardener, interior decorator, and immaculate housekeeper. She loved flowers and always looked forward to planting them in the Spring. She created gorgeous hanging baskets and never tired of the watering and tender loving care she gave her gardens.
She was a precious, wonderful, loving, caring, sacrificial Mother to her three children, and she will be missed on this earth more than words can express, but we know that we will be reunited in Heaven someday, and that gives such comfort.
Her grandchildren were so loved by her and she was a wonderful Grandmother and such a fun babysitter. Her imagination provided countless hours of fun for them. She prayed for them always and they held a special place in her heart.
Peggy also had four siblings, along with many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. The entire family has been such a great support to all of us and we are very grateful for that. She absolutely adored each and every one of you.
She loved her wonderful Cocker Spaniel, Lady, so much, along with her Mixed Shepherd, Coco. They were in Heaven, waiting for her, and are so happy to be with her for all eternity.
This precious angel will be missed more than words can say, but we find such comfort in knowing that we will all be reunited in Heaven someday. We are thankful that she is out of the excruciating pain that she suffered for so long, and that she now lives in perfect peace and joy with The Lord and her loved ones who have gone before her.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Roy; her three children, Richard L. (Rocky) Riden & wife, Becky; her daughter, Sally R. LaFayette; and their daughter, Susan (Sue) & husband, Neal Norberg; and by her four siblings, Dorothy & husband Al Spane; Donna Erickson & husband, Bill Griffies; Alex (Sonny) Hergert & wife, Nancy; and Sandra & husband, Doug, Coates; and she had numerous beloved grandchildren, great & great-great, as well. She was so blessed by their love and support. Her heart ached for her precious Mark, whom she dearly loved. He has had a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Special Thanks and blessings to Dr. Joe Z. Wang, her nephrologist, who has truly been a ministering angel to not only Peggy, but to all of his other patients as well. Words cannot thank you enough for the beyond-excellent care you provide.Your heart of love and compassion for those in your care is a precious sight to see. You did everything you could to give Peggy the best possible quality of life. You believed in her from day one, and you fought for her rights as a patient and human being every step of the way. You will always remain right in the center of our hearts. What a fine example you set for other doctors and humanity, in general. Know that we all are so grateful to you, and that we love you dearly. And thanks to wonderful Dr. Su for the excellent aneurysm repair in 2012. Together, you and Dr. Wang helped God to give us more precious time with our beloved Peggy.
Also special thanks, love and blessings to our precious Puyallup DaVita Dialysis Team. You also are our extended family. We were there with you for nearly four years. You provided Peggy with such exceptional care. Each and every day, you are all lifesavers for so many hurting people. We appreciate you so very much. Thank you for your great care. You have both laughed and cried with us. You helped to keep us all going. May God bless you big time. You are the best.
Dr. Bryce Betteridge and Dr. Marse McNaughton were Peggy's family physicians for 50 years. She was grateful to you and your staff and loved you, as well.
Thanks also to St. Joseph Hospital's Out-patient Dialysis Team. We were not there for long, but we appreciate your wonderful care, as well. You were a great help to us.
The doctors and staff at both St. Joseph and Good Samaritan Hospitals were very good to us, also, and we are grateful for your care.
And finally, to Franciscan Hospice House, although it was a very hard decision to make, to end the suffering, we are grateful for your help in relieving the unbearable pain
she had endured for so long. Praise God for Victory over death. She is now at peace in Heaven.
