Peggy Monica Hanson's Obituary
Peggy M. Hanson made the journey home to her Lord on Wed., March 5, 2008. She was born in 1919 on her grandfather's farm in Sumner, where she enjoyed an idyllic childhood. Soon after graduating from Stadium High, Peggy married Bob Boedecker. They had 3 children prior to Bob's untimely death. Peggy trained as an LPN and particularly enjoyed working for Dr. Kass. In 1960 she met and married the love of her life, John Hanson D.D.S. Peggy was a longtime resident of Day Island, belonged to the Tacoma Yacht Club, Daughters of The Pioneers, and Central Lutheran Church. Peggy and John staunchly braved 3 trips to Alaska aboard their cruiser, the Donalie. Peggy excelled in homemaking skills, delighted in gardening and had a deep appreciation of fine art and music. She possessed the rare gift for generously opening her heart and home, becoming a 2nd mother to many. Peggy is survived by her children: Jim (Sherri) Boedecker, Susan Bonn, Kristie (Bill) Love; her beloved grandson, Joel Boedecker; her extended family, Patti (Ed) Dawes, Barbara (Joe) Parsons; her childhood friend Jane Gullstad, and numerous friends and relatives. Services will be at Mountain View Garden Chapel on Wed., March 12th at 2:00 P.M., followed by a potluck reception at the home of John and Barrie Smith, 2228 Day Island Blvd. W. Memorial donations may be made to MultiCare Hospice, P.O. Box 5200, Tacoma, WA 98415 or Central Lutheran Church.
