Pedro Laygo Malang's Obituary
Pedro “Pete” Laygo Malang, Jr., 82, left this world on the morning of November 3, 2022. He peacefully died of natural causes at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.
Pete was born on February 8, 1940 in San Fernando, Pampanga, Philippines. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of the East in Manila, he worked as a medical representative for UNILAB and traveled all over the Philippines. He retired as an office clerk for LBC Express in Los Angeles, California before he moved to University Place, Washington with his wife in 2006.
Pedro will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, and “Lolo Pete.” He often enjoyed gardening, singing, reading, going to the casino, playing chess and cards, watching billiards on Youtube, and also loved to watch Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and boxing matches on the TV. He always demonstrated patience, integrity, and humbleness to his children and grandchildren. He was a critical thinker and problem solver when anything was thrown at him. Pete will be profoundly missed by his friends, family, and all who encountered him.
He is survived by his wife, Marietta Velasquez Malang; his children, Marilou Brusola, Alstein Malang, James Malang, Shiela Barro, Siegfried Malang, and Michelle Malang; his grandchildren, Ramstein Louise Santos, Taj Jeremiah Brusola, Marc Aldrin Malang, Kimberly Santos Aldan, Ramshien Kaelle Barro, Alstein Malang, Jr., Samantha Kamille Barro, Sophia Kasandra Barro, Raj Joshua Brusola, Shayla Karissa Barro, Ramoncito Peter Angelo Barro IV, Jashree Malang, Niño Malang, Leanne Emanuelle Malang, Jaidee Myles Rivera, and Siegfried Malang, Jr.; and his great–grandchildren, Jonah Lewis Pruett, Aldriana Reene Malang, Jeriah Luca Aldan, Calvin Alexander Aldan, Marc Alstein Malang, Jr., and Caleb Ayden Aldan. He is predeceased by his parents and grandparents; his sisters, Josie Hsiao and Nelly Amurao; his daughter, Lulu Malang; and his son-in-law, Ramoncito Barro III.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Pine/Oak room, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. A funeral mass is scheduled for 9:00 A.M. on Monday, November 14, 2022 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 7112 S 12th St, Tacoma, WA 98465.
