Pedro Juan Flores-Alvarado's Obituary
Pedro Juan Flores-Alvarado, 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 16, 2014. He was born September 16, 1922 in Guanica, Puerto Rico to Juan Flores and Belen Alvarado.
He worked hard in school but had to leave school at the age of 12 to help take care of his Mother. He worked many jobs growing up, so when it came to a formal education he achieved that goal in his own way. He earned his GED in 1957 while serving in the military. Pedro is an alumni of City University in Seattle where he earned a BA in 1983.
He proudly served his country for thirty years in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany, Hawaii, California, Vietnam and finally retired at Ft. Lewis, Washington in 1972. After retiring from the Army he went on to work for the VA Civil Service Board, U.S. Post Office and finally as a Teacher for the Tacoma and Clover Park School Districts.
Pedro had a strong passion for music, baseball and dancing his Latin Salsa. He played drums, organ and loved to sing. He was a friendly, caring man, respected by all who knew him. Pedro will be remembered for his smile, whistle and always humming a tune. He worked hard to provide for his family and had a high work ethic.
Pedro is survived by his loving wife Dora; children Rosa (Roy) Elena Hess, Pedro (Joan) Juan Jr, Coral (Franklin) Singletary; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Hilda Hortensia Moya.

Memorial service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, February 22 at Mountain View Funeral Home Valley Chapel.
