Pauline Rowan's Obituary
Pauline Rowan has now gone to live with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 5, 2010. She had a very full life of 93 years. She was born of German parents and raised in Tacoma with three sisters, Irene Hardesty, Catherine Allen, and Clara Valenta, all of whom have already gone to be with Our Lord, and two brothers, Alex Horst, deceased, and John Horst of Bellingham, WA. She was a graduate of Stadium High School of Tacoma, WA, class of 1936. In 1936, she met and was married to Herbert Rowan for 57 years. They had three children, Joan Webster, Gerald (Gloria) Rowan, and Kenneth (Nancy) Rowan.
She was preceded in death by husband Herbert, son-in-law William Webster, grandchildren Robert Webster and Timothy Rowan. She has 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Pauline was an enthusiastic homemaker. She enjoyed her flowers and shrubs and was especially fond of her vegetable garden, canning everything she could and supplementing her crop with produce from the Puyallup Valley or the Yakima area. She enjoyed various crafts and was a very accomplished seamstress. She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Tacoma. It was very important to her to go to church each Sunday and also read her Bible daily. Herbert and Pauline traveled extensively to Canada, Mexico and all the States except Florida. Pauline loved to walk and did this with her family and friends to exploring areas whereever she went (camping at the beach, the mountains or around the Tacoma area). She moved from her home of many years and lived for over 2 years at King's Manor Assisted Living. She always walked the halls and was known by many residents. She will be missed by family members and her many friends, but we all know she is now happy with her Lord.
