When I think of my great grandma I think of picking raspberries (carefully of course) climbing trees (with a reminder that grandmas not driving anyone to the hospital) and excitedly watching hummingbirds out of the livingroom window (keeping our hands and noses off the glass) I remember a fridge covered in pictures and fun magnets and sitting on the floor playing Simon while grownups talked about grownup things.
I got to see my great grandma inacoma last october when she came to Spokane with my uncle Ed and cousin Asher, we decided it would be fun to carve pumpkins with my kiddos (4 and 1), She made herself comfy on the couch while she talked to my dad. My mom, brother, cousin, uncle, kids and partner were all in the kitchen so I asked her if she wanted us to carve them in the livingroom where she could see better, she said “absolutely not” assured me she was very happy to be there and later informed me “the tv is too bright, your house is too cold, and your children are too loud, but it’s not your fault or theirs, I’m just old” I laugh everytime I think about it because she was right and glad to let me know. No bullshit indeed 😂
