Paul Krett's Obituary
Paul Krett, born February 2, 1922 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, passed away November 20, 2003 in Tacoma, Washington at the age of 81. He served in the Army Air Corps in North Africa in WWII and later re-enlisted in the newly formed United States Air Force in 1948. He retired from the Air Force in 1965.Thereafter he worked for the Tacoma Volkswagen dealership Autohaus and retired in 1984. He had the eyes and hands of a craftsman and was always making something. He had an ongoing love of automobiles and airplanes. In the 50Â's he customized his  49 Ford Coupe. During a tour of duty in England he built a sports car from an old Austin sedan and in the 60Â's and 70Â's he repaired damaged Beetles to give to his children for their first cars. Paul also rebuilt wrecked Beetles and turned them into dune buggies. In the 80Â's he built models of WWI airplanes from scratch. He was also known for his ability to turn a block of wood into any kind of duck. His great love was bird hunting, especially ducks, geese, and pheasant. He built his own decoys and blinds, and loaded his own shotgun shells. He loved his bird dogs above all else. He is survived by brother, Jim; first wife, Yvonne Sandlin; companion, Kathleen Rudolph; children, Tom, Bill, Richard and Sue; grandchildren, Adam, Andy, Sarrah, Chad, Oliver, Andrea and Desiree; and great-grandchildren, Preston and Chad, Jr.Visitation will be from 11 AM until 9 PM, Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at Mt. View Funeral Home.Services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at the Mt. View Garden Chapel, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 PM at Calvary Cemetery, Tacoma.
