Paul Dean Floyd's Obituary
Paul Dean Floyd, age 69, died June 24, 2018, in Tacoma, WA.
He was born April 4, 1949, in Lake Chelan, WA, to Archie and Dorothy (Brooks) Floyd. The family lived in Chelan. He attended Chelan schools and graduated from CHS in 1968. After high school he entered the military serving in the US Air Force for 12 years. He was a Vietnam veteran.
He married Saensuk Pongsuang in 1972 and they lived in Thailand for several years. They divorced in 1979. He left the military and returned to Chelan and worked in the apple industry. He married Hazelynne Balfe in 1980. They lived in Mansfield and eventually moved to Tacoma. He became a caregiver for family members and friends, did endless remodeling on his residence and provided technology assistance to his friends and family.
He was a member of T.H.E. Center Church in Spanaway, the American Legion in Manson, WA, and the African American PTSD Association in Lakewood.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Hazelynne, at the home, four children: Mary Ahern, Spokane, Sandy (Syd) Williams, Port Orchard, Deane (Benjamin) Notter, Spanaway, and John (Andey)Floyd , Tacoma; 17 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; sisters, Louise (Ed) Sivula, Ephrata, WA, and Kathleen (Stan) Allen, Ellensburg, WA; and numerous nieces and nephew. His parents preceded him in death.
Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042, Kent, WA, on July 16, 2018, at 9:30AM. A celebration of life service will be held at T.H.E. Center/Freedom Center, 224 166th St. S, in Spanaway, WA, 98387, on July 16, 2018, at 11AM. A repast will follow.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to The African American PTSD Association or T.H.E. Center school supplies program.
