Paul Bruce's Obituary
Paul Quentin Bruce
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
I Corinthians 13:4
These words of love you shared with me at the beginning of our life. I now share them with you at your departure. Farewell my dearest, you will be forever in my heart -" your loving wife, Nora.
We will miss you greatly Pops, thanks for always being there for us, your loving children and grandchildren -" Michael, Courtney and Taylor Bruce/Gregory, Kirsty, Josh, Kelsey, and Mathew Bruce/Kathleen Wade and Ariel Rawls.
Paul was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Alice Taylor Bruce. Their marriage lasted for 23 years until she died of cancer at the young age of 43.
Paul, you then later married our mom, Nora Rogers, and became our dad. Thanks for looking after us as you would your own, your loving step-children and grandchildren -" Jennifer Johnson and Starla France/Katherine, John, and Dylan Brooke/ Erin Johnson and Lucas.
Paul arrived in Puyallup, Washington on October 23, 1930 to Oliver and Darlene Bruce, the youngest of 5 siblings. He out lived his brothers -" Gayle, Harold and Floyd Bruce as well as his sisters -" Lorene McDowell and Mary Wheeler. Paul was a proud construction electrician for 35 years and faithful member of the IBEW Local Union 76. He loved his politics and a good debate. He always lent a helping hand when he could. Paul's life ended on August 22, 2011 at his home after a long battle with asbestos fibers lodged deeply in his lungs.
An informal memorial gathering will be held at the home of Paul and Nora Bruce on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 4:00 pm. All family and friends are invited. Please help Nora celebrate Paul's life by sharing your memories of him.
Sending flowers would only make Nora's tears flow. However, if you feel a need to send something, it would be better to give a donation to McCarver Elementary School to help purchase materials for the Special Education class where Nora teaches. Paul spent his junior high years at McCarver and has been helping Nora provide for the kids since she started working there. Both of them would enjoy this.
Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
