Paul Berry's Obituary
Paul passed away at home on November 12, 2013. He was born July 15, 1917 in Plumer, PA. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather to his large and still growing family.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Mary, all of his siblings, his daughter Darlene, and his son Leland. He is survived by his sons Paul (NY) and Bob (WA). He had 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren (and one on the way).
Paul served in the US Army for more than 20 years and served during WWII, Korea, and the Berlin Airlift he retired a CWO-3. During his career he received the Soldiers Medal and various other distinctions and awards. Following his military service, he joined the US Customs Service and served at various locations along the Washington/Canada border for 15 years.
He was involved in the Boy and Cub Scouts and served as Scout Master and Assistant Cub Master. He attended a National Jamboree in 1964 in Valley Forge, PA with his son, Bob. In his later years he volunteered at the American Lake VA Hospital for more than 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Art Wrye-Lakewood Post 187 and served in many positions.
Paul loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, and golf. He also loved travelling, owned multiple trailers and an RV he made numerous trips across this country from sea to shining sea. At the age of 93, during an Alaskan cruise, Paul had visited every state in the nation. He was a lifetime member of the Good Sam Club and Holiday Rambler. Paul loved woodworking and spending time in his shop. He loved to play and watch baseball and coached his great-grandson.
Services will be held at Mountain View Cemetery on Sunday November 17 at 1pm. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 1 to 6 and Sunday from 8 to 11.
