Patsy Ann Thomas' Obituary
Patsy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She passed away peacefully with her husband, John by her side. She was born at home in Anacortes, Washington. Patsy became a lifelong resident of Tacoma, Washington. She attended St. Leo Catholic Church and school. She retired from Carmen Spring Air Mattress Company and went on to own the North End Tavern with her husband John from 1980 to 1994.
Patsy was a pillar in her community from being the first lady president of the Kiwanis Club to inspiring kids as Mrs. Santa at the Festival of Trees. Patsy helped organize and announce for the Junior Daffodil Parade and was a life member of the Marine Corps League and the Day Island Yacht Club. She also volunteered countless hours for the Toys for Tots with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. She belonged to the Tacoma Elks Club #174 and was a former president of Ladies of Elks. Patsy loved family game nights, camping, old movies, reading, and taking care of her grandchildren. She enjoyed all holidays and always decorated her house accordingly.
Patsy is preceded in death by her mother; Katherine Starkovitch, father; Merle Iru Handley, sister; Nancy Jo Church, and brothers; Bud Lehne and Leo Handley.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years John J Thomas, daughters; RoseMarie (Kevin), Renee (Giovanni), sons; Ken (Loni), Steve (Juile), and Keith (Kelly), grandchildren; Billie, Nico, Malia, Q, Jordan, Hunter, Tyler, and Ethan, great grandchild; Antonio, and many nieces and nephews. Also her beloved pets; Mindi Mae (dog), Penny Sue (cat), and George (a 50 year old turtle).
A piece of our hearts went missing when she left us. She may be gone, but will never be forgotten! In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her name to the Dystonia Foundation.
