Patrick Michael Murphie's Obituary
Patrick Michael Murphie, 72, was born to Erma I. & Donald W. Murphie on September 16, 1944 in Terre Haute, Indiana. The family moved to Washington in 1954 when his father was transferred to Ft. Lewis. Pat attended Clover Park High School then joined the Air Force in 1963. In 1965 he met his wife of 50 years, Kathy Tucker, and they raised two children, Colleen and Brian. Pat was a Mensa Member, an avid race car driver and an enthusiast of the sport.
Pat founded PM Testing Laboratories, January, 1979 in Fife, where he used his skills as a level 3 non-destructive testing inspector. The business grew to include chemical processing, paint finishing and brushed aluminum finishing, as well as adding chemical analysis services, inspecting in plant and off site. His many clients included Boeing and Weyerhaeuser suppliers.
Pat and Kathy enjoyed many years RVing, the last 7 wintering in Florida. They were privileged to spend time “center circle” at Daytona Rolex 24-hour Endurance races, 2011-2017. He was predeceased by his mother, Erma Bonewitz, and survived by his 95 year old father, Don; his sister, Bridget Upton (Ken); his wife, Kathy; daughter, Colleen Smith (Dennis); grandson, Michael Smith; and son Brian (Pam). There will be a viewing Thursday evening, June 29, 2017 at Mountain View Funeral Home, Lakewood, from 4-8PM. A celebration of his life will be held at the Aspen Chapel, Mountain View Funeral Home at 10AM, Friday, June 30, 2017.
