Patricia Whyte's Obituary
Patricia A. Whyte Age 97 passed away in Tacoma, WA on October 24, 2013.
Born in Seattle on May 9, 1916 to Charles and Amanda Sharkey, she moved to Tacoma in 1942 with her late husband James Whyte who passed in 1995. In May 2003 she moved to the Tacoma Lutheran Home where services will be held tonight at 6 pm.
Mrs. Whyte was a volunteer at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop and the Tacoma Little Theater where she was a secretary on the board of directors from 1960 - 1972. In later years she volunteered at the American Red Cross making quilts for disaster victims in Pierce County. Pat graduated Seattle's Lincoln High (1934) and the U of W (1938). She was active with the Lincoln High School Associated Classes, serving as class secretary. She was a member of the National Association of Women in Communications.
Pat traveled extensively and enjoyed a wonderful life. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Reckers, and is survived by nephews James Reckers Jr. of Seattle, James Phelps and Edgar Phelps both of Saskatchewan, Canada and niece Jessie Ruby of Sequim.
