Patricia E. Stavig's Obituary
Pat Stavig died on October 15, 2018 in Redmond, WA at the age of 87. Pat is survived by her children, Sandy (Canton, OH), Mark (Samammish, WA), Mike (Los Gatos, CA); and seven grandkids. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill on Sept 23, 2018 and her parents Harold and Ellen Stavig of Tacoma, WA. Pat was born on January 11, 1931 in South Tacoma, WA. "Patsy" moved to Midland when she was four years old. As an only child she valued her days in grade school and her many friends. In second grade she started tap dancing that lasted through high school and in third grade she began a long career playing sports. Pat played softball at a championship level, leading her teams to state tournaments. In 2005, Pat's 1951 Mutual Fuel fastpitch team was inducted into the Tacoma Baseball and Softball Hall of Fame, that team was coached by Bill Stavig. Pat graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. She married Bill in 1951 just before he was drafted into the Army where he served at Camp Roberts, CA and Albuquerque, NM. Bill and Pat moved to Richland, WA and over the next 6 years, the couple welcomed three children into their home. Bill and Pat moved to San Jose, CA in 1963, then to Wilmington, NC in 1969 and back to Richland, WA in 1970. Pat and Bill loved spending time boating on the water in California and Washington with family and friends. Bill retired in 1993 and then he and Pat moved to Redmond, WA. Wen she was home, she spent hours working around their garden. visiting with neighbors and following youth sports played by his grandkids or neighbors. A funeral is scheduled for 11:30 am Tuesday, October 30 at Mountain View Funeral Home, Tacoma.
