Patricia Y. Simpson's Obituary
Patricia Yvonne Simpson, the only child of the late Joseph and Amelia Robinson was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 13, 1941 and de-parted this life on October 11, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital with her loving daughter Malinda by her side.
Pat attended Elbethel Baptist Church and at an early age she made the commitment to God and was baptized at the age of 8 years old. She en-joyed singing in the Choir, serving on the Usher Board and loved attend-ing Sunday School.
Pat graduated from Central High School in 1958. In 1960, she met the love of her life Frank L. Simpson and they married in 1962. They traveled extensively with the military and finally settled in Tacoma, Washington in 1981.
Pat retired in 2001 after 30 years of employment with McChord Air Force Base 62nd Civil Engineer Squadron as their Supply Clerk.
Growing up in Detroit she gained and experienced the love of music and theater. Her gift for singing lasted a life time. She was always asked to sing at various programs and events. She was a former member of the Voices of St. John’s Women’s Choir and sang with the Over Forty Revue talent show. She shared her many gifts, talents and singing skills throughout the community.
Pat was faithful, loyal and dedicated to the work of the Order of Eastern Stars. She was affectionately known by her OES Sisters and Brothers as P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing). She touched many lives, never met a stranger and embraced everyone, loving them unconditionally. She was a Past Matron of Olympic Chapter No. 2 OES and served as Grand Worthy Matron of Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order Of Eastern Star, State Of Washington And Jurisdiction from 1999 to 2001. She was al-so a Past Loyal Lady Ruler in Cascadian Assembly No. 46, a Past Most Ancient Matron of Willie K. Jennings Court No. 6 HOJ, Past Commandress of Yemen Court No.12 and a member of Mary Church Terrell Social Club of Tacoma.
Pat was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Frank L. Simpson. Now they are together again.
Mourning her departure, yet thanking God for many years of loving memories are her daughter Malinda Renee Simpson, step-sister, Jo-Anne Robinson, step-son, David Lillard, Grandson David C. Lillard, Great Grandson Devin Lillard, cousins Jacqueline and Kevin Simpson, Shug Robinson of Detroit, Michigan and Gail Perry of Sacramento, California, sister-in-law Barbara Allison Simpson, nephews David and Christian Simpson, her very close sister friends Frankie Bolton and Linda B. Cumberbatch and her Masonic family.
