Born February 11, 1930 in Tacoma to Floyd and Thelma Chapman; passed away June 4, 2004, her loving family at her side. Her sudden death was the result of a massive stroke. Patti graduated from Stadium High School in 1947. Her junior year she met and fell in love with the captain of the baseball team, her future husband of 53 years, Garry Hersey. After high school she attended CPS for 1 year and then began working full-time for Washington Hardware. In 1952, after Garry graduated from CPS, they were married. Shortly after they were married, Garry enlisted into the army as an officer and was transferred overseas to Bordeaux, France, where he and Patti spent 2 years until the end of the Korean Conflict. Her golfing accomplishments include an invitation to join the Â"Under NinesÂ" group where she had 2 holes-in-one in one summer. Patti loved outdoor activities with her family. From trout fishing with the kids, to salmon fishing with Garry in Canada and Alaska. She enjoyed many years of bird hunting in Eastern Washington and digging razor clams at Ocean Shores. Entertaining friends and family was especially important to Patti, especially hosting the Â"Senior OlympicsÂ" during the summer where she became the reigning ping-pong champion. For the last 10 years Patti and Garry enjoyed spending their winters in Palm Desert.
