Patricia "Pat" J. Christie's Obituary
It is with great sorrow the family of Patricia J. Christie announces her passing, on Friday, August 9, 2019, at the age of 76 years. Pat was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. She will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend of 50 years, Les, and their daughter, Cyndee (Steve) DeMeyere; by her grandsons, Zachary (Kaitlyn) DeMeyere and Patrick DeMeyere; her sister, Kathi Sparkes; her brothers Michael Sparkes and Doug (Wanda) Sparkes; sisters-in-law, JoAnne Leavenworth and Kathy Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by her sister M. Dee Sparkes, her mother, Frances Sparkes Hughes, and her father, George Alison Woodard Sparkes.
For Pat, God and family came first. Everything she was came from God and she willing shared her blessings with everyone. She was the fierce heart of her family, always saying “It doesn’t matter where they were, as long as they were together, they were home.” For over 20 years she lovingly supported her husband throughout his military career – going wherever the Air Force sent them without complaint. She was always able to look at the brighter side, knowing that every time she moved it would bring her and her family new adventures. It was always a joy for her to explore a new place or meet new people; her curiosity was limitless. When she was graced with her grandsons, she was the center of their universe – their guiding light to always help them find their way home. It never mattered when or why, but her door and heart were always open to them. Beyond her family, she did have some personal passions loving to bowl, cook, knit, and – of course - travel. She had a boundless love and enduring compassion – but more than that, she was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and dear friend. The world is all the brighter because she was here.
A Rosary Prayer Service be held on August 21st at 10:30 AM followed by a Catholic Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 5715 108th Street S.W., Lakewood, with Fr. Paul Brunet presiding. A reception luncheon will be held immediately following the mass.
Seeing as she was terribly allergic, in lieu of flowers, please donate your time, talent, or treasure to your favorite charity in memory of Pat.
