Patricia Jackson's Obituary
Patricia S. Jackson, resident of Lakewood, WA, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2011.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Shreveport, LA on December 31, 1926. She graduated, at the age of 19, with a degree in journalism from Baylor University, Waco, TX. She married Robert Jackson of Fort Worth, TX in 1947. Mrs. Jackson later obtained her Master's degree in Library Sciences from Geneseo State University in upstate NY.
She was a librarian for many years and in 1972 began a career with the United States Senate staff rising to the position of Director of Programs and Administration for the Republican Conference Committee from which she retired in 1985. After joining her husband, in Japan, where he served in an Energy Department assignment, they retired to the Pacific Northwest where they spent the last 22 years. Mrs. Jackson volunteered her time for local libraries and served as the President of the Sno-Isle Library System Board of Directors until 2000.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert M. Jackson; her sons, Gordon Jackson (Cheryl), of Burke, VA, Kenneth Jackson (Regina) of Mesa, AZ, and her daughter Jeri Cranney (Frank) of North Bend, WA, their five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 17, 2011 at 11:00am at Mountain View Garden Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA. Burial will be at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.
