Patricia Frields' Obituary
The fourth of five daughters, Pat was born September 21, 1932 to Fred and Victoria Ellen Davis, on a farm in Mingo, Missouri. Those of you who knew her well, know that although she was born on a farm, she was NOT a farm girl. She met a handsome young soldier home on leave from a nearby town shortly after high school and became Mrs. Paul Eugene Frields June 21, 1951. They were stationed first in El Paso, Texas before being assigned to Stuttgart, Germany where their only child, Karen Jean, was born in 1954. Imagine a 19 year-old Pat who had never been more than 100 miles from home, boarding a ship in New York with many other army brides and making the 9-day crossing to Germany. For the next 22 years Pat and Paul would go on to be assigned to various bases around the country, returning to Ft. Lewis three times. During that time they bought their current home in Lakewood in 1962. Pat retired from the Tacoma Mall J.C. Penney where she worked in Customer Pick-Up for over 20 years. In 1978 she and Paul gave their blessings as Vito and Karen married at McChord Air Force Base. From that point forward they were to forever be embraced by the Iacobazzi family. They became grandparents when Paula Nicole arrived in 1981. Pat would then be known as Gram for the rest of her life. Sadly, Paul preceded her in death in 1995, but her life took a joyous turn when Paula married Joel Hemminger in 2006, and then again when they presented Gram with her only great-grandson Evan David in 2009. Pat’s smile, her laugh, her trademark hairstyle, her good Southern cooking, but most of all, love for her family will always leave happy memories in our hearts. We are all blessed to have known and be loved by her. She is our shining star.
