Pascual Aguon "Monty" Mantanona's Obituary
Pascual Aguon “Monty” Mantanona passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis McChord.
Monty was born in Inarajan, Guam December 15, 1945 to Mariano Mantanona (deceased) and Rosa Aguon Mantanona (deceased), at which time he joined his eldest sister Terry Cruz and later joined his brother David Mantanona (deceased). He graduated high school and went to the United States to Long Beach, California in 1965.
He joined the US Army in June of 1969 and served 3 tours in the Republic of Vietnam from 1969 to 1973. He served as a Tactical Transport Helicopter Repairmen and dust off Gunner while in Vietnam. He is a recipient of:

In 1973 he met his wife Gloria, who was also in the Army, and were married March 23, 1974 in Honolulu, Hawai’i. They had two children, Gerald Aris Mantanona and Rochelle Marie Mantanona. His eldest child, Edward Allen Mantanona, is from a previous marriage.
Monty served 20 years in the US Army and retired in June 1989 out of Yuma Proving Grounds, Arizona and moved his family for a new beginning to Tacoma, Washington. He worked various jobs to end up in civil service for the Department of Defense. In 2003, he was adjudicated his full disability from the Department of Veterans Affairs and became fully retired.
Monty loved being outdoors. He loved to go camping, fishing, hunting, crabbing, smelting, digging up clams, and being with his family and friends. He would volunteer his time and efforts to help his fellow Chamorros with various charities and events. He would help cook various Chamorro delicacies and make sure everyone was fed and happy. Monty was one of the kindest men and would always help anyone in need if it be a tools, food, or bed for relatives and loved ones to stay.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Aris Mantanona; his children, Edward Allen Mantanona, Gerald Aris Mantanona, and Rochelle Marie Mantanona; his grandchildren Madeline, Keegan, and Sophia; his sister, Terry Cruz with nephew Patrick Mantanona Paulino and spouse, Brooke Paulino.
