Pamela W. Wallace's Obituary
Pamela W. Wallace was born October 11, 1950 in Tacoma, WA to RC and Annie Brazel. As a child, Pamela played many sports; basketball, baseball, volleyball and was an avid swimmer and Lifeguard for the Mount Tahoma Thunderbirds. On a Wednesday night, Sunday morning and Sunday evening Pamela could be found at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Pamela continued to serve at Bethlehem as an adult with both the Youth and Finance Ministries.
Pamela began a career in 1970 working at Pacific Northwest Bell as a telephone operator. Pamela would retire from that same company, from the supply unit in 1995. Prior to retirement Pamela decided to return to school earning a Bachelor of Science and Master of Teaching from The Evergreen State College. September 1996 Pamela began her second career in teaching at Komachin Middle School (Olympia). Pamela started teaching at Gray Middle School (Tacoma) where she would retire in 2012.
Some of Pamela’s most notable accomplishments was receiving the “Teacher of the Year” award from Gray Middle School. While at Gray, Pamela also took a group of 16 students to Washington, DC for an exciting educational experience. Pamela was also selected by the St. Joseph’s Oncology Department to travel to Washington, DC to share her journey through lung cancer and to advocate for equitable healthcare for all cancer patients.
Forty-nine years ago, Pamela married the love of her life, Leroy Wallace. Together they gave life to Deshunda (Willie) and Deia. Through their love for their family and friends, they created many memories. Together they traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond in their RV where they were able to develop lifelong friends and becoming members of the “Funseekers” RV Club. In 2017 Pamela and Leroy crossed off a “bucket list” item traveling to the Holy Land which they described as a life changing experience.
Pamela will be profoundly missed by her husband, Leroy Wallace; daughter, Deshunda Mitchell; son-in-law, Will Mitchell; grandchildren – Jefferey, Kinshasa, Breaunna, Emani and great granddaughter, Ariayah. Pamela has a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, godchildren, sister friends and brother friends who will also deeply miss her.
Pamela was greeted at the “Pearly Gates” by God and joined in an angelic celebration with her daughter, Deia Peters; sister, Nannette Bullock and parents RC and Annie Brazel.
