Pamela Jean (Buss) Brookshier's Obituary
Born May 24, 1949, passed September 3, 2018
Pam loved life and lived it to its fullest.
In her earlier years Pam lived on “the farm”; the foundation for her love of animals, gardening and just plain having fun. She talked about days of building forts and camps, playing made-up games and running barefoot as often as possible.
Later, Pam and her family: Dad Gerd, Mom Farfeira, sister Alice and brother Jim moved to 84th and Park Avenue area where she attended Fern Hill grade school, Baker Jr. High and Mt. Tahoma High School, graduating in 1967. Pam started life time friendships with many of her school mates and neighbors.
Pam had many part-time jobs: babysitting, housekeeping, bean and berry picking. It was here that she learned responsibility, practicality, frugalness and how to eat warm PB&J sandwiches with warm soda with dirty hands.
After graduation Pam took a cashiers job at the Elephant Car Wash in Tacoma and worked up to the bookkeeper position until the closing of the car wash in the mid 90’s. She kept in touch with many of her co-workers throughout her life.
Pam married Nathaniel (Nate) Brookshier on Oct. 25, 1969. They had a life of fun and adventure, eventually building their home on Fox Island. Nate was later diagnosed with cancer from Agent Orange from his Army tour in Vietnam and passed away in 1990.
Later Pam “re-met” Jim (Fritz) Hymer a friend from High School years and started a new life together. They bought property together on the North Bay of Case Inlet at Victor and built the home of their dreams on the beach. She was again on the “Farm” with her dog, cats and her “girls” the chicken hens. Their Pam loved boating, clam digging or just floating on her raft.
Pam was proceeded by father Gerd, mother Farfiera, brother Jim and her sister-in-law Kim Buss.
We wish you a pleasant journey to visit Nate and champ dog Pogo, your Mom and Dad, brother Jim and others who have gone before you. Rest in peace.
There will be a celebration of life Sunday November 4th from 12:30 pm until 5 pm at the Titlow lodge: 8425 6th Ave, Tacoma.
At Pam’s request donations be made in-lieu of flowers to your favorite animal group, like PAWS, Prison Pet Partnership or the Humane Society.
Also a special tanks to oncologist Dr. Wu, radiologist Dr. Springate and Pam’s special friend Bernie who was with her to the end.
We will all miss you. Love and prayers.
God Bless.
